Tahoe
The second weekend in August we drove up to Tahoe and spent 4 days with family. Jill and Joel shared a condo with us in South Lake Tahoe, CA (here's the link for the condo http://www.vrbo.com/131953). During our vacation Joel, Nick, and Reilly rented a boat and went fishing (they didn't catch anything but had a good time), we all went for walks on the beach, Nick and I hung out with family we normally don't get to see while attending Caitlin & Billy's wedding. The weather in Tahoe was excellent (it was nice to get away and experience cool evenings during this hot hot summer).
Crystal Cove National Park
The day after we went to the L.A. Zoo I took the girls to Crystal Cove National Park while Daddy attended an all day meeting in Irvine. The park is really a section of the beach near Irvine that has been designated as a National Park. The concierge at our hotel suggested that we go there instead of one of the public beaches. The girls and I had a great time playing in the water and sand.
L.A. Zoo
On July 19, 2009 we took the girls to the L.A. Zoo. The weather was super hot but the animals kept the girls entertained. The giraffe exhibit was impressive. Even though giraffe's are know for their great height, they are amazingly tall in person.
Daddy pointed out many of animals to Maddy, who soaked it all in with stares and oohs & awe's.Daddy and the girls loved watching these male gorillas chase each other around. Boy were they fast!
Maddy sat in her stroller rental or on top of Daddy's shoulders when she wasn't running around. We forgot her stroller so I sucked it up and tried not to think about all the germs that were lurking all over this filthy stroller.
