Snow & The Stomach Flu

During this past 3 day weekend we decided to head to the snow. Maddy has never seen snow and Reilly has rarely been able to play in it. We left late afternoon on Sunday and headed for Shaver Lake. The road was a bit windy and Maddy began to cry and cry. At first we thought that Maddy was getting car sick. So we pulled over and changed her diaper and gave her a short break from being strapped down in her car seat. But as soon as we got back on the road she threw up. I desperately wanted to pull off the road immediately but the road was a typical mountain road, narrow and windy. We found a place to pull over and clean her and her car seat. At this point we thought that she was definitely car sick but that evening while we were settling into our hotel room we realized that she had the stomach flu. She was extremely warm and too fussy to get an accurate temperature reading. She ate about 1/2 of her hamburger and at 6 the next morning she threw up all over me. Nick headed to the store for pedilite. Maddy loved the orange colored pedilite but unfortunately her tummy didn't and it ended up all over the hotel bed. Our original plan was to visit the snow on Sunday and the Fresno zoo on Monday. But, on top of the fact that Maddy was sick, there was also a terrible rain storm traveling through Fresno and the rest of the valley. We decided to enjoy our hotel room for as long as we could and then head home.

These are several pictures we took after arriving at the snow.
Notice Nick's attire... beanie, sunglasses, sweatshirt, gloves, shorts, and flip flops (which are buried in the snow).Maddy and Reilly holding hands. (Maddy slept in the truck the majority of the time that we were at the snow. When we were getting ready to leave I woke her up so that she could experience snow. She loved it! I just wish that she had been feeling better.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Nick is such a creatively romantic husband and father. We are so lucky to have him in our lives!

This morning he made us heart shaped waffles and heart shaped sandwiches for lunch.

Amazing 14 months

Maddy is now 14 months and one day old!!! She is amazing. She seems to learn something new everyday.

She loves to be chased around the house, play peek-a-boo, climb on anything she can, and go outside.

Her communication skills seem to be growing extremely quickly. She can say mama, dada, hi, bye, pop-eye, ball, up, bear, saw (for sock), sue (for shoe), baba when she wants milk, num-num when she wants real food, yeah-yeah, no-no, daw (for dog), bay-bay (for her baby doll), she attempts to say her version of water, she can also growl when asked what a bear says, and she is currently learning how to bark like a dog when asked what a dog says.

She is soooooo much fun!

I'm officially due

on September 9, 2009. We had our first trimester ultrasound yesterday. Ultrasounds are so amazing! We saw her heart beating and her hands moving. The doctor said that she's about 1 inch long. It is still too early to tell the sex of the baby so for now I am calling the baby a girl.

Rollerama

On Monday, January 19th we decided to go rollerskating to celebrate Marin Luther King Jr. Day. Maddy and I watched as Reilly skated around with her buddy Ian for almost 2 hours.
